When the walls come crumblin' down...

So much has happened since my last post. I swear I'm going to add to this blog more than twice a year. I realized while looking over my previous posts that I hadn't ever acknowledged the birth of my nephew, Grant Davis. I had mentioned in my January 2007 post that my sister had gone into labor. Well, little Grant said hello to the world on January 10, just one day after his mother's birthday. My sister and her family came down to visit us this past June. Here are some pics of Nigel and Grant.

We also hit a major milestone in our new home construction. We have been moving our stuff out of our old home for weeks, and in the process we have been purging ourselves of ten years worth of junk. I never knew two people could collect so much stuff. Well, we finally got everything out, and the house had been sitting vacant for awhile. The yard had become overgrown, and just in the last week a piece of the vinyl siding on the front fell off, perhaps giving further proof that our decision to demolish the house was a good one.
Here's the house about two weeks ago:

So last Thursday my wife goes to lunch and on the way she rides by the house. It's still there at that point. After grabbing a quick bite, she cruises back by, and sees this:

So I guess there's no turning back now. Here are some more pics of the demolition, including two giant pine trees that we took down.

They will set the foundation in the next week or so, and then they will bring in the modular house, which is already built. I can't wait.
Thanksgiving was nice. We had it at my sister-in-law's house. Nigel was, as always, the life of the party. Some folks wear a lampshade on their head when they've had too much intake (food or otherwise). Nigel likes to keep things in pace with the respective holiday:

Today, Nigel and I stayed safely indoors while the women braved the Black Friday crowds. Christmas will be here before we know it.
